In order to provide necessary water for different units,
Razi petrochemical complex has an industrial water production unit with inlet raw water capacity of 620 cubic meter per hour which is using reverse osmosis method. Also another two clarifiers with total capacity of 1830 cubic meter per hour provide inlet water to cooling towers. The most important problem in reverse osmosis unit is the membrane fouling phenomena which causes increasing pressure loss and decreasing stream production that leads to several chemical washings and production interrupting. Heat exchangers fouling and scale formation in cooling towers are difficulties which is resulted from low quality of treatment water.
In order to remedy this problem, extensive studies and tests are done in form of a researching project to increase the produced water quality by decreasing calcium scale. Finally by omitting the lime and soda ash and substituting caustic, in addition to calcium hardness decrease and scaling risk decrease in the membranes heat exchangers, about six billion rials economies has obtained in the water production cost per year.
Moreover, by deducting the chemical washing times, not only the need of using such chemicals are decreased but also the noxious of repelling such chemicals are decreased.
The yearly economies of this project in the clarifying is 6/630/819/104 rials and in reverse osmosis unit is 221/430/846 rials.
